Follow the goods. Discover the relationships.
Actual UN Comtrade annual merchandise trade values, retrieved 17 October 2026. All-goods values use that dated snapshot. Product summaries and deeper commodity detail are loaded on demand and cached, with their own retrieval dates. No synthetic values or mirror estimates are included.
All goods uses HS as reported, TOTAL. Imports and exports are those of the selected reporting economy. Values are in current US dollars. Imports use reported CIF values when complete across World and partner rows, otherwise complete reported FOB values. Exports use reported FOB values. The selected valuation is shown beside each total. If neither is complete, Comtrade’s primary values are retained and material differences between World and partner totals are flagged. No valuations are estimated. Imports and exports may differ because of valuation, timing, origin/destination rules and other reporting differences. Do not add both sides of a relationship as though they were different shipments.
Regional totals sum the selected economy’s reported trade with the atlas’s regional partners, restricted to CARICOM members when that filter is selected. Global totals use the API’s World record and retain all reported partner areas in totals and downloads. The global map draws the twelve largest locatable connections; additional partners and statistical areas remain in totals. Self-partner observations are retained in totals but are not drawn as map connections. The map shows the share represented by its displayed connections. Missing records are not proof of zero trade.
SITC values may be converted by UN Comtrade from the reporter’s original classification; they are not necessarily submitted directly as SITC. Product detail is fetched for the selected reporting economy, year, partner and direction, using SITC Revision 4: food, drink, tobacco and oils = sections 0, 1 and 4; energy = 3; manufactures = 5–8; materials and other goods = 2 and 9. These broad groups are mutually exclusive. Product charts use the sum of these classified values as their denominator; classification conversion can differ from HS all-goods totals. Click a category to explore two-digit divisions, three-digit groups, four-digit subgroups and five-digit items. These are SITC codes, not HS codes; this preserves the hierarchy of the parent categories. On-demand queries are split if they hit the response limit, and source errors or unavailable records are shown explicitly. Latest-year regional summaries are cached for faster exploration. Public API limits may temporarily delay additional detail.
Years are held constant when switching economies. An unavailable year remains unavailable; use the labelled latest-year button to change it. Territories without a separate dataset remain selectable and can appear as reported partners. No proxy country totals are substituted. Queries are split when they reach the API’s 500-record cap; capped responses are never accepted as complete datasets.
Curves represent reported bilateral trade, not vessel routes, port calls, transshipment or verified multi-stage supply chains. Line width follows a square-root scale within the current view, making smaller flows visible. Statistics include trade by all transport modes.
Geography: Natural Earth via world-atlas (1:50m), with point markers for small islands. Some statistical areas have no map location. Hollow markers indicate economies without their own loaded dataset for the selected year; they can still appear as partners reported by another economy.
